I felt like adding a few new weekly features to this blog in hopes of actually creating some sort of regular posting schedule. Since my weekends often include a graphic novel or two, I decided it would be fun to do a short feature highlighting all the wonderful comics I have discovered lately.

Giant Days is a contemporary YA/adult series based off one of the characters from a webcomic called Scary Go Round. It’s a little bit crazy and hints at some odd events to come, which might turn this into more of a fantasy/sci-fi series eventually.

Anyway, Giant Days follows Ester de Groot as she enters college and makes some new friends. Susan, Esther, and Daisy started at university three weeks ago and became fast friends. Now, away from home for the first time, all three want to reinvent themselves. But in the face of handwringing boys, “personal experimentation,” influenza, mystery-mold, nu-chauvinism, and the willful, unwanted intrusion of “academia,” they may be lucky just to make it to spring alive. Going off to university is always a time of change and growth, but for Esther, Susan, and Daisy, things are about to get a little weird.

I remember reading the original webcomic years ago, but didn’t realize it was from the same creator because the art style has changed so much over the years. The humour and heart of the original webcomic is still very present, which is why I can see myself reading more of this series as it is released.

Do you read graphic novels? What about webcomics? What’s your favourite? Tell me in a comment so I can check them out!
